Our Doctor
Harry L. Uy, MD, FACE
Dr. Harry L. Uy is a distinguished endocrinologist with an impressive academic and clinical background. He graduated with honors with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of the Philippines and later obtained his medical degree, also with honors, from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine. Dr. Uy completed a one-year Straight Internship in Internal Medicine at the Philippine General Hospital before pursuing residency training in Internal Medicine at Mercy Hospital in Buffalo, New York, where he served as chief resident during his final year.
Following his residency, he specialized in endocrinology through a fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. During this fellowship, Dr. Uy dedicated his third year to academic research, focusing on bone biology and osteoclast activity, which led to several publications in esteemed journals.
Dr. Uy focuses on providing exceptional care for patients with thyroid disorders and osteoporosis. He is passionate about education and regularly hosts medical students and residents from UTHSC-San Antonio for clinical preceptorships at his practice. Recognized as one of San Antonio’s Best Doctors and a Texas Super Doctor, he is dedicated to his profession. Outside of work, Dr. Uy enjoys family life with his wife and three children. His hobbies include playing golf, swimming, traveling, and photography.

Our Nurse Practitioner
Petra Grinnell, MSN, APRN, FNP-BC
Petra Grinnell is originally from Germany and moved to the United States in 1981. She earned her Associate Degree in Nursing from Bay de Noc Community College in Escanaba, Michigan. She completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at Lake Superior State College in Sault Sainte Marie, Michigan. After serving in the Army Nurse Corps, Petra and her family chose San Antonio, Texas, as their home. She has extensive experience in acute care and over 15 years of experience in diabetes management. In 2010, Petra obtained her Master’s Degree in Nursing from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, specializing as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
Petra’s professional interests include providing holistic care to patients with various endocrine disorders. She believes that patients deserve her undivided attention and serves as a reliable source of information during their visits. Additionally, Petra is a clinical preceptor for graduate nursing students at UTHSCSA. She is married and has two adult children. In her free time, Petra enjoys reading, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her dogs.

Joseph Borrego, RT (N) (ARRT)
Joseph Borrego is a dedicated Nuclear Medicine Technologist with a passion for health and wellness. Born and raised in the vibrant city of San Antonio, Texas, Joseph has been a valuable member of the Endocrinology Nuclear Medicine Associates team since May 1997.
Joseph is not just an expert in his field; he’s also a family man who cherishes his time with his wife and two daughters. When he’s not working, you can find him diving into a good book, exercising, or passionately cheering for the San Antonio Spurs. Go Spurs go!
As a strong advocate for healthy living, Joseph encourages his family and patients alike to embrace a balanced lifestyle. He genuinely cares about his patients’ well-being and is here to support them on their health journey. Whether it’s through his expertise in nuclear medicine or his commitment to promoting fitness and nutrition, Joseph is dedicated to helping everyone achieve their best health.
